FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the platform

What is Foresight, and how is it different from a traditional hazard-analysis tool?
Foresight is a safety analysis suite. It brings the STAMP family of methods (STPA for prospective analysis, CAST for retrospective causal analysis) together with FTA, FHA, Bow-Tie, and FMECA in one product, with each method as a first-class, purpose-built tool, so safety teams stop stitching together disconnected spreadsheets, diagramming tools, and incident trackers.
Why combine STAMP/STPA with FTA, FHA, Bow-Tie, and FMECA instead of picking one?
Component-focused methods like FTA, FHA, Bow-Tie, and FMECA give rigorous treatment of component reliability, failure modes, and barrier effectiveness, and regulators in aviation, medical devices, automotive, and defense still require them. STAMP/STPA covers what those methods were not designed for: software behavior, automation authority, human decision-making, and organizational influences. Foresight gives you all of these methods in one suite so your team isn't choosing between tools.
Why run multiple methods in one product instead of separate tools?
Most safety teams already use several methods: STPA or CAST for systems-theoretic and causal analysis, FTA/FHA/Bow-Tie/FMECA for the component-focused work regulators require. Foresight covers all of them in one suite with consistent UX, project structure, reporting, and audit trails, so the team isn't context-switching across tools that were never designed to work together.
How does Foresight handle AI-enabled and software-intensive systems?
AI and software controllers are first-class objects in the control-structure model. Capabilities include pre-deployment behavior analysis, post-deployment drift assessment, alignment between intended and actual behavior, latency and feedback-delay analysis, and security-informed safety analysis where adversarial action is in scope.
Which industries and regulatory regimes do you support?
Foresight is cross-domain by design. Today we focus on aviation and advanced air mobility, defense and autonomous systems, healthcare and medical technology, industrial and energy, AI governance, maritime/rail, and insurance/legal. Reporting formats and regulatory references are configured per domain (FAA, EASA, FDA, NRC, military, and industrial regimes).
Do I need an internal STAMP/STPA team, or can your experts run the analysis?
Both. Foresight supports three engagement models: expert-led (our analysts conduct the analysis and deliver findings), customer-led platform (your team uses the software with our training), and a hybrid model where we establish the analysis architecture and coach your team through execution. Best fit depends on the consequence level of the program and your existing safety capability.
What does Foresight produce for audits, regulators, and certification?
Audit-ready outputs include the safety-analysis plan and scope, loss/hazard/constraint registers, the control-structure model, unsafe control action and causal scenario tables, FHA worksheets with severity classifications, fault trees and cut-set summaries, Bow-Tie diagrams with barrier ownership, FMECA worksheets, the integrated requirements/verification traceability matrix, an assumption register with evidence sources, and engineering, executive, and regulator-facing report packages, with controlled handling of sensitive analytical detail.
